THE LONDON REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WAS OPENED WITH A CEREMONY.
“WE ARE COMING TO BE A BRIDGE”
The London Representative Office of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce was opened with a ceremony held on Thursday, May 5th. The ceremony was attended by Sibel Tatar, wife of President Ersin Tatar, Çimen Keskin, the TRNC London Representative, the Deputy Head of Mission and Commercial Attaché of the Turkish Embassy in London, a representative from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives of Turkish Cypriot community associations in London. Turgay Deniz, President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, and other KTTO executives who traveled to London for the opening were also present.

TATAR: TIES WILL BE STRENGTHENED
In his message sent to the opening ceremony, President Ersin Tatar stated that the opening of the KTTO London Representative Office would be a milestone in “developing relations between Northern Cyprus and the UK following the UK’s departure from the European Union, and in taking the existing commercial potential between the two countries to much higher levels,” and would ensure that the trade bridge between the TRNC and the UK is built on a much stronger foundation.
Tatar emphasized that the KTTO office would also strengthen ties between Turkish Cypriots living in the UK and the TRNC, and would “contribute to the strengthening of political relations created by the historical ties between the two countries.”
KESKİN: WE WILL CONTRIBUTE
Expressing his honor and pleasure at being present at the opening of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce London Representative Office, Çimen Keskin, the TRNC London Representative, thanked everyone who contributed to the opening of this office in his speech.
Keskin stated that the Turkish Cypriot people are facing unfair embargoes and isolation, and that this is being ignored by the international community. Wishing the KTTO London office success, he added that the TRNC London Representation would provide all possible support to the office’s work.
DENIZ: “IT WILL SERVE AS A BRIDGE.”
Turgay Deniz, President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, who gave the opening speech, stated that the office would serve as a bridge between Northern Cyprus and the UK, saying, “We are aware that opening an office in London increases our responsibilities. However, we are ready to undertake these responsibilities to serve the interests of the Turkish Cypriot people. We believe that the relationships and collaborations we will establish with the UK are of great importance in achieving this goal. Our London office will help us fulfill these responsibilities and will serve as a bridge between the UK and Northern Cyprus.”
KTTO President Deniz said, “We believe that significant opportunities may arise to develop our economic and commercial relations with the UK following the UK’s exit from the European Union. We believe that this new political environment will offer new opportunities to deepen our relations with the approximately 300,000 Turkish Cypriots living in the UK and to achieve significant economic gains.”
Recalling that trade relations between Northern Cyprus and the UK were in very good shape until the mid-1990s, Deniz provided information about the goals of the KTTO London Office.
“We are determined to make our London office a bridge between London and Northern Cyprus. Therefore, I wish Arkın Öksüzoğlu, the KTTO London office representative, success in his efforts to achieve the goals of the London office,” he said.
Deniz also thanked those who contributed to the opening of the office.
The London Representative Office will serve as the third overseas representation of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce. KTTO has offices in Ankara and Brussels.
