Decree Law Regarding the Acceleration of Collection of Taxes and Administrative Receivables for the Year 2024 and Previous Tax Periods

Decree Law No. 81/2026, “Regarding the Acceleration of the Collection of Taxes and Receivables of Local Governments for the Year 2024 and Previous Taxation Periods,” was published in the Official Gazette No. 138 dated July 23, 2026, and entered into force.
The key provisions in the decree can be summarized as follows:
- Tax debts from 2024 and previous tax periods, as well as receivables of municipalities (excluding the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities) prior to December 31, 2024, are covered by the Decree.
- Applications can be submitted to the Revenue and Tax Office until the end of business on October 12, 2026.
- For upfront payments, discounts ranging from 50% to 90% will be applied to tax penalties, late payment surcharges, and late payment interest, depending on the period to which the debt relates.
- Those wishing to take advantage of the installment payment option must pay 20% of the total debt in advance on the application date. The remaining amount can be paid in 6 equal monthly installments.
- Failure to comply with the application and payment conditions stipulated in the decree will result in the loss of any benefits granted, and debts will be collected in accordance with current legislation.
